Priorians 1sts  5  Armagh 1sts  0Jill Kennedy

The home side were determined to come out strong as the reverse fixture saw the NW side narrowly beaten 2-1 by Armagh who scored two penalty corners.   Priorians started the first half with a change of positions and tactics from previous games. They were decisive and passed quickly making attacks early on.   They also handled the counter attacks from the very fast, young Armagh side.   The first half ended 2-0 to Prior.

The ladies were not taking anything for granted as they were in the same position last week and let their lead go.   Armagh’s goalkeeper was in great form handling shots in quick succession and deflecting penalty corners.  The Armagh Ladies were highly defensive making Priorians work for every play they had.  The more experienced homeside, however, were patient and used every member of the team to pass the ball smoothly and quickly looking for a way to penetrate the circle.  They found the goal three more times across the half.   Jill Kennedy scored 3 and Emma Allen 2.   Player of match was Jill Kennedy.   Young goalkeeper, Alex Dougherty, was also praised for keeping a clean sheet for Priorians.

The home side will play again this Saturday against league leaders, Lisnagarvey. With 5 games left in the season, Priorians are sitting second in Senior one league. This would leave them in a play off position for the Premier League!
